Pastor Robert Young:

As you settle into a comfortable position, take a deep breath in for a count of five. Hold the breath for a count of five and exhale slowly for a count of six. Allow any tension in your body to fade away as you prepare to meditate on overcoming fear with the help of God's Word. In Christian meditation, we often reflect on the life of Jesus and the lessons he taught us. One powerful aspect of Jesus' character that we can draw inspiration from is his lack of fear in the face of his impending crucifixion on Good Friday. Mark, chapter 14, verse 32, shows how Jesus agonized in prayer to our Father and came out victorious. Knowing what was coming on Good Friday, he knew that he would be betrayed, arrested and ultimately crucified. Despite this knowledge, he did not let fear consume him. In fact, Jesus faced his fate with courage and acceptance, fully trusting in God's plan for him. This lack of fear that Jesus displayed is a powerful example for us to follow in our own lives. When we are faced with difficult or challenging situations, it can be easy to let fear overwhelm us, but by turning to Jesus and meditating on his example and, of course, the written word of God, we can find the strength to face our fears with courage and faith.

Pastor Robert Young:

In the Gospel of John, Jesus tells his disciples, Peace I leave with you. My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. This verse reminds us that we can find peace and strength in Jesus even in the midst of fear and uncertainty. As we meditate on Jesus' actions on Good Friday, let us ask God to grant us the same courage and trust that Jesus displayed. May we find peace in the knowledge that God is with us, always, guiding us and strengthening us through every trial and tribulation. Amen.
