Pastor Robert Young:

Hi friends, this is Pastor Young from Not your Parents Religion podcast and we're here with a special kids edition of the podcast. We hope to be launching, or relaunching our question and answer sessions and our interview sessions from the podcast on Wednesdays and our guided Christian meditation series on Sunday, as we're currently doing so. This day, we went to one of the local parks and interviewed people about Christianity, asking questions and being asked questions by people, so that they could have a true understanding of what Jesus Christ is and get rid of all the misinformation that people have about Jesus, about faith, about God all that good stuff. You know, the very reason why the podcast was started in the first place, but today something special happened.

Pastor Robert Young:

Usually we get the parents of kids about this age, but some kids came up and conducted a very interesting interview and I want you to listen to and tell me what you think in the comments section, and I'll see you at the back end of the interview.

Pastor Robert Young:

Hi friends, this is Pastor Young from Not your Parents Religion Podcast. We're sitting here in Cobbs Hill Park workout park and people are working out. We have a young man, what's your name? Young man.

Jordan:

Jordan, yeah, jordan.

Pastor Robert Young:

Jordan, All right. Well, Jordan is suggested that we give some microphones as gifts, prizes. So I asked him, how was his microphone skills? And he's going to show us his microphone skills. So let's see your microphone skills.

Jordan:

So hello guys. I am Jordan from the podcast over here at Coobs Hill and today I'll be answering church questions, probably not for a prize, probably for a prize, I don't even know but I just might be doing this for fun. But it's God, so of course I'm going to do it.

Pastor Robert Young:

All right, Jordan. Now first question Do you or your family attend church on a regular basis? Yes, yes, Hold on a second Jordan. I lost my pen. All right, he says yes Okay. Now Jordan on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest. How important is church to you?

Jordan:

Nine.

Pastor Robert Young:

Nine. Okay, Jordan, do you believe in giving money to the church?

Jordan:

Yes, because when you give what amount you give money to the church, God's going to give you that amount of money, but a zero at the end.

Pastor Robert Young:

Hmm, sounds like to me, Pat, that Jordan has spent some time in church. What do you think? Yeah, yeah, do you?

Jordan:

believe in mercy.

Pastor Robert Young:

Yes, yes, now is religion important or helpful to people?

Jordan:

It's important to people because without religion, people wouldn't believe nothing. And then if there was a fire, there would be like I don't know what to do, no one's going to save us. Blah, blah, blah Okay.

Pastor Robert Young:

Jordan is Jesus Christ, the only way to heaven.

Jordan:

Probably, but I would probably say God too, yes yes, this boy has spent some time in too. Yes, yes.

Pastor Robert Young:

This boy has spent some time in church. Yeah, you go to church, you go to Emmanuel Church. It became obvious once he yes, definitely Okay, is Jesus Christ about peace and love? Yes, yes, all right, you are on microphone too. Young man, what's your name? What, I'm sorry? John Dell, john Dell and Jordan, I shortened it. Yeah, I'm Robert and this is Pat. All right, did Jesus die for everybody?

Jondelle:

Yes, he died for our sins.

Pastor Robert Young:

I like this. I raised my children in the church too. Now here's a trick question for you Do you believe that the Bible is the only true word from God?

Jondelle:

Yes.

Pastor Robert Young:

Yes, okay.

Jordan:

Actually no, because there's another word from God which is called praying. The who, the praying.

Pastor Robert Young:

Spell it.

Pastor Robert Young:

P-R-A-Yy, oh praying yes, of course, of course. But how are you going to know about praying if you don't read the bible?

Jordan:

basically he's right he's right.

Pastor Robert Young:

He's right. Do you guys have any suggestions to other pastors? I'm a pastor and at the end of this summer I'm going to be talking to lots of pastors about how they can improve the church experience for young people. What can you suggest that I tell them?

Jordan:

Why don't you tell them? Well, when you see a young person, try to motivate them. You know.

Jondelle:

Let them volunteer, like let them volunteer in a church so they can actually get the surroundings, because some kids want to be pastors, some kids want to spread the word of God.

Pastor Robert Young:

What's your mom's name?

Jondelle:

That's not my mom, that's my auntie. Yeah, that's my auntie too. What's your auntie's name? Natalie?

Pastor Robert Young:

Natalie, I'm going to adopt these two. Are you kidding me? Oh my goodness. Yes, yes, I can tell. So what else would you suggest that I say to these pastors? I think you should. So we got. Let me summarize Give the young people something more to do, because some young people want to spread the word of God. Anything else? Motivate young people, motiv the word of God. Anything else Motivate young people, motivate them. How do we motivate them?

Jordan:

Like if one's playing basketball. It could be like let's go or teach them how to play. Teach them how to do.

Jondelle:

And you can have like things for like young, the youth. Like you can like only have a thing for a youth, like you'd be like pastoring and show them how, how it works, and stuff, and you can like yeah, yeah, train them I got a good one okay, what is it?

Jordan:

um, why don't you like tell the pastors to start a kids club so like every friday, sunday, every Friday Sunday, every church day, at night at midnight before church starts.

Pastor Robert Young:

Okay.

Jordan:

They get to read the Bible and do activities you should do Bible studies with the kids too.

Pastor Robert Young:

Now you know, some churches do have that a specific Bible study.

Jordan:

That's exactly why I said it.

Pastor Robert Young:

Yes, okay, anything else? No, that's all. What would you say about the sermon itself, that the pastor or elder or whoever preaches. Anything that we could do with that from that end?

Jordan:

What is a sermon?

Pastor Robert Young:

when they preach. oh, is it too long, is it too short? Do you understand what's being said?

Jondelle:

Yeah, the understanding part, because they use a little bit too much of the big words. So I think they should summarize in better words, because some kids can't really understand it if you're speaking in high manner, high vocabulary, so I think you should explain it more better. Explain it like the way that kids can learn it, to make it more fun.

Pastor Robert Young:

Okay, okay. What would you say to young people that might hear this podcast?

Jondelle:

God is life, God is glory, God is everything, amen.
