#141 Guided Meditation: Finding Peace in the Promise of Heaven
What if the struggles of this world were just temporary stops on a much grander journey? Join us for "We Are Just Passing Through," a guided meditation that invites you to reflect on the comforting truth that our ultimate home lies beyond this earthly realm. We start with a heart-opening worship session inspired by Psalms 100:4, lifting our voices in gratitude and praise. As we steady ourselves through deep breathing and muscle relaxation, we prepare our minds to gain deeper insights from Hebrews 11:13, acknowledging that we are but strangers and exiles on this earth.
Feel the weight of the world lift as we ponder the promise of a future without pain or sorrow, guided by Revelation 21:4. Visualize the heavenly home awaiting us, as affirmed by Jesus' words in John 14:2-3, where He assures us that He is preparing a place for each of us. Anchor yourself in the uplifting affirmation, "I will rest in the peace and comfort of knowing that this world is not my final destination." Let this meditation bring you peace and assurance, reminding you that we are merely pilgrims on a journey toward our eternal home. Amen.

Welcome to this week's guided meditation on, We Are Just Passing Through. Our main scripture is from the book of Hebrews, chapter 11, verse 13. But first let's enter into worship by focusing on Psalms, chapter 100, verse 4, where it tells us to enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. Take a moment to lift up your voice in praise and thanksgiving to our Heavenly Father, who is worthy of all honor and glory.
Pastor Robert Young:Before we start to reflect on the scriptures, let's get a little bit more centered. First, close your eyes and take a few deep breaths as you invite the presence of God to feel you. Now take a few deep breaths in for a count of seven. Hold the breath for a count of five and slowly exhale for a count of seven. Repeat the exercise.
Pastor Robert Young:Let's begin our muscle relaxation exercise by simply tensing each muscle group for three seconds and then releasing the muscle. Remember, don't hold your breath for this portion of the meditation. Begin with the calves. Lightly tense the calf muscles for a count of three, now release. Moving upward to the hamstrings, the quads and the glutes, lightly tense for three seconds, now release. Moving to the chest and the back areas, lightly tense for three seconds, now release. Lastly, moving to the arms and the shoulders, lightly tense for three seconds, now release.
Pastor Robert Young:Now we can begin to focus on the truth that this world is not our home. We are pilgrims passing through, just as the verse in Hebrews, chapter 11, verse 13, says, these all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. Think about the trials and tribulations of this world, the pain and suffering, the brokenness and sin. Remember that these are not our ultimate destination. Our true home is in heaven, where there will be no more tears, no more sorrow, no more pain, as Revelation, chapter 21, verse 4, tells us, "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes and death shall be no more. Neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.
Pastor Robert Young:Picture in your mind the hope and joy that comes from knowing that our heavenly home awaits us.
Pastor Robert Young:Jesus spoke of this in John, chapter 14, verses 2 through 3, and it says, "In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you, and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself that, where I am, you may be also. Allow yourself to rest in the peace and comfort of knowing that this world is not our final destination and make this phrase your affirmation for the day and the rest of your week. Repeat this affirmation with me.
Pastor Robert Young:I will rest in the peace and comfort of knowing that this world is not my final destination. Again, I will rest in the peace and comfort of knowing that this world is not my final destination.
Pastor Robert Young:Now take a few minutes to reflect and to thank God for the promise of a heavenly home free from the cares of this world. Reflect on the promise of the eternal life that awaits us in his glorious presence.
Pastor Robert Young:As you slowly come back to the present moment, carry with you the assurance that we are but strangers and exile in this world, looking forward to our heavenly home. Amen..
