Pastor Robert Young:

Welcome to this week's Guided Christian Meditation. Our topic today is Power Meditations Equipped for Battle. Our scripture is coming from Ephesians, chapter 6, verses 10 through 18. But first let's enter into worship by focusing on Psalms 100, verse 1 through 3, where it tells us to Take a moment to lift up your voice in praise and thanksgiving to our Heavenly Father, who is worthy of all honor and glory.

Pastor Robert Young:

Before we start to reflect on Ephesians, chapter 6, verses 10 through 18, let's get a little bit more centered by closing our eyes and taking a few deep breaths, as we invite the presence of God to fill us. Now take a few deep breaths in for a count of seven, hold the breath for a count of five and slowly exhale for a count of seven.

Pastor Robert Young:

Let's begin our muscle relaxation exercise by simply tensing each muscle group for three seconds and then releasing the muscle. Remember, don't hold your breath for this portion of the meditation. Let's begin with the calves, Lightly tense the calf muscles for a count of three, now release. Moving upward to the hamstrings, the quads and glutes Lightly tense for three seconds. Glutes Lightly tense for three seconds, now release. Moving to the chest and back areas Lightly tense for three seconds, now release. Finally, moving to the arms and the shoulders, lightly tense these muscle groups for three seconds, now release.

Pastor Robert Young:

Now that we are relaxed and free from all distractions, let's really begin to think about Ephesians, chapter 6, verses 10 through 18, where it says, Finally, be strong in the Lord and his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes, for our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God so that, when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground. And, after you have done everything to stand, stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil. One Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, and pray in the Spirit on all occasions, with all kinds of prayers and requests.

Pastor Robert Young:

This verse of scriptures reminds us that we are going to be attacked, but to be prepared and ready for the attack with God's power. It also shows us that the real fight is against the evil forces that may have a hold on the people that want to cause us harm. After all, the devil usually attacks us through other people, with words and actions. Ephesians 6 and 10 through 18 tells us to be ready and prepared with God's strength, and know who the real enemy is.

Pastor Robert Young:

Take two minutes and meditate on the following questions. One, have I been fighting the wrong enemy? Two have I been fighting in my own strength? Three am I prepared to fight the true enemy? Thank you, thank you.

Pastor Robert Young:

Imagine yourself walking into your difficult situation with joy, knowing that the schemes will not harm you. Imagine speaking calmly and truth to the forces that wanted to bring you harm.

Pastor Robert Young:

Let's cement this in our mind by repeating the following affirmation now and for the next seven days "I will fight the real enemy in the strength of the Lord. Again, I will fight the real enemy in the strength of the Lord.

Pastor Robert Young:

As you slowly bring this meditation to an end, receive the strength that God has prepared for you to defeat all the schemes of the evil one. Take the next few minutes to thank him for his divine goodness. Amen, thank you you
