Pastor Robert Young:

Welcome to this week's Guided Christian Meditation. We will continue our topic on Power Meditations. Today's meditation is titled Spirit of Power, love and aSound Mind. Our scripture is from 2 Timothy 1, verses 6 through 7.

Pastor Robert Young:

But first let's enter into worship by focusing on Psalms 100, verses 1 through 3, where it tells us to shout for joy to the Lord all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness, come before him with joyful songs.

Pastor Robert Young:

Take a moment to lift up your voice in praise and thanksgiving to our Heavenly Father, who is worthy of all honor and glory.

Pastor Robert Young:

Before we start to reflect on 2 Timothy 1, verses 6-7, let's get a little bit more centered by closing our eyes and taking a few deep breaths, as we invite the presence of God to fill us. Now take a few deep breaths in for a count of seven. Hold the breath for a count of five and slowly exhale for a count of seven. Repeat the exercise.

Pastor Robert Young:

Let's begin our muscle relaxation exercise by simply tensing each muscle group for three seconds and then releasing the muscle. Remember, don't hold your breath for this portion of the meditation. Let's begin with the calf muscles. Lightly tense the calf muscles for a count of three, now release. Moving upward to the hamstrings, the quads and the glutes ightly tense for three seconds, now release. Moving to the chest and back area Lightly tense for three seconds, now release. Finally, moving to the arms and the shoulders Lightly tense these muscle groups for three seconds, now

Let's begin to think about 2 Timothy 1, verses 6-7, where it says.

Pastor Robert Young:

thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God which is in thee by the putting on of days; hands, for God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Paul the Apostle

Pastor Robert Young:

is talking od to his young protege who was put in charge of house churches. That was in a very sinful city called

Pastor Robert Young:

Ephesus. In Ephesus, people worshiped the goddess Diana. Paul himself had dealt with a riot of people not wanting to lose commerce from the souls, turning from worship of Diana to esus of the one true God, jehovah.

Pastor Robert Young:

It's in this setting that Paul writes to Timothy to be courageous, disciplined and, most of all, loving in his teachings and dealings with his surrounding. You may not be in charge of a large group of people, as Timothy was, but God is calling you to be courageous, disciplined and loving in the expression of that courage. So, starting this week, stir up the gift in you by spending time in worship of God, reading of God's love and receiving his power to accomplish his vision and direction. Let's take two minutes to really imagine what this looks like in our world, thank you. Let's cement this in our mind and heart by repeating the following affirmation, now and for the next seven days, and for the next seven days God has given me the spirit of power, love and a sound mind, and I receive it by faith.

Pastor Robert Young:

Again, god has given me the spirit of power, love and a sound mind, and I receive it by faith. As you begin to bring this meditation to a close, take a deep breath in as you continue to thank him for his grace and mercy, thank him for sending his son, jesus Christ, and thank him for the power, love and sound mind that is now yours. Now go and influence your world, amen, thank you you.
