Speaker 1:

So if any of this resonates with you guys, the links in the description box below are the first step in becoming a missionary in the way that feels right for you.

Speaker 2:

All right, everybody. Welcome back for another deep dive with us.

Speaker 1:

Yes, welcome back.

Speaker 2:

So this time around we're going to be looking at something pretty interesting.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, definitely timely. So this time around we're going to be looking at something pretty interesting, yeah definitely timely.

Speaker 2:

It is super timely.

Speaker 1:

And I think it kind of touches on things we've talked about before, but in a very specific way this time, definitely. So, we are going to be.

Speaker 2:

Talking about. Looking at Missionary work in the digital age.

Speaker 1:

That's it.

Speaker 2:

That is it.

Speaker 1:

And how.

Speaker 2:

Pastor Robert Young.

Speaker 1:

Yes from the Not your Parents Religion podcast.

Speaker 2:

You know him, you love him.

Speaker 1:

Is sort of shaking things up.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he's doing his annual tour again.

Speaker 1:

Yes, he is.

Speaker 2:

And it's really got us thinking about. Like you know, we're Dan and Sheila.

Speaker 1:

His AI co hosts.

Speaker 2:

We are.

Speaker 1:

That's us.

Speaker 2:

And it's really got us thinking about you know how to get this message out there.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, what's interesting is that he's actually kicking off his tour on March 28th 2025. Oh, wow. And this time it's spanning the entire East Coast. Okay, starting in New York, he is on a mission to preach what he calls an untainted, unpoliticalized gospel.

Speaker 2:

Okay, that's interesting. Untainted, unpoliticalized gospel. Okay, that's interesting. Uncandid, unpoliticalized gospel.

Speaker 1:

I mean, I think that it is you know we've heard him talk about reaching the unchurched before. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

But that phrase really jumped out at me. Yeah, what exactly?

Speaker 1:

What does that even mean?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, like, what does that even mean and how does that connect to this sense of urgency?

Speaker 1:

Right, because there is a sense of urgency. Like he is, yes, he's a man on a mission. So I think what he's highlighting there is the core teachings of Jesus Right, focusing on love, compassion, forgiveness. The basics, the basics, yeah, and deliberately avoiding entanglement with social or political debates that can alienate some people.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, Especially in today's climate where there's so much division and distrust. Absolutely Right, and I think you know that makes a lot of sense, because there are a lot of people out there who are disillusioned with traditional religious institutions, even skeptical of organized religion altogether. So how do you?

Speaker 1:

So he wants to sidestep all that by focusing on, like, genuine connection and lived experiences.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Which is why, if we look at his choice of venues, it's not limited to churches.

Speaker 2:

Okay, where is he going?

Speaker 1:

This is what I'm talking about. So we're talking street corners, coffee houses, even Hold on Wait. Jails, rehabs, assisted living homes, parks.

Speaker 2:

Wait, hold on Back up a second no-transcript meeting people where they are.

Speaker 1:

Yes, literally and figuratively. Ok, I gotcha.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so OK, this is very modern, very 21st century.

Speaker 1:

Very now.

Speaker 2:

How does this tie into a classic biblical message?

Speaker 1:

Well, so he draws this really powerful parallel by quoting Matthew 9.3538. And this passage talks about the abundance of the harvest but the scarcity of laborers, and so he believes that we can all be those laborers in the modern world, each in our own way.

Speaker 2:

I like that. Okay, so that brings us to his call to action, and he's got four specific ways that people can get involved. Okay, hit me.

Speaker 1:

Okay. So first, there's the option of a one-time financial contribution to support the ministry Right. Second, you can do monthly contributions to provide ongoing support, gotcha, but it goes beyond financial contributions.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

So, for those who feel a deeper calling, there's the option of becoming an evangelist, which involves training and traveling with the team.

Speaker 2:

Wow. So you're really going deep, going deep, yeah yeah. And that involves some pretty intensive training, absolutely Wow. So you're really going deep, going deep.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, and that involves some pretty intensive training. Absolutely yeah. You'd be learning how to communicate the gospel effectively in these non-traditional settings.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 1:

Learning to adapt to different audiences and address their specific concerns.

Speaker 2:

You're not just like. It's not a one size fits all approach Okay, cool. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And then finally.

Speaker 2:

So for those who feel called to support the mission from a distance, there's the vital role of a prayer warrior.

Speaker 1:

Oh, of course, Every successful mission needs a strong foundation of prayer.

Speaker 2:

Absolutely. Prayer is essential, and each of these roles plays a crucial part in the overall mission.

Speaker 1:

I love it. I mean this really challenges. You know how I thought about missionary work. Yeah, it really makes me wonder, like how can we all be more effective in sharing our own beliefs and values in a way that's respectful and engaging?

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 1:

You know, and it all starts with a single step.

Speaker 2:

That's it.

Speaker 1:

So if any of this resonates with you guys, the links in the description box below are the first step in becoming a missionary in the way that feels right for you. That's a great point and it raises a really interesting question what does being a laborer in the modern world look like to you?

Speaker 2:

Ooh, that is a good question.

Speaker 1:

Because it might be different for everybody.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

But the core message is clear there's a role for all of us.

Speaker 2:

Absolutely.

Speaker 1:

In spreading the message of love, hope and compassion.

Speaker 2:

So much food for thought. Thank you all for joining us for another deep dive. We will catch you next time.

Speaker 1:

See you later. Bye.
